Enantat 400 by Dragon Pharma is a high-strength testosterone injection. Each 10 ml vial contains 400 mg/ml of testosterone enanthate dissolved in oil for intramuscular use, and the name simply reflects the ester and the concentration.
Testosterone enanthate explained
Testosterone enanthate combines testosterone, the body's main male sex hormone, with enanthic (heptanoic) acid, a seven-carbon ester. Attaching it makes the hormone more soluble in oil and lets it seep out of the muscle depot gradually, so one injection works for far longer than plain testosterone. Enzymes in the blood then remove the ester, leaving ordinary testosterone that the body handles exactly like its own.
Doctors have prescribed this ester for decades, mainly as replacement therapy for men with low testosterone (hypogonadism) and to induce delayed puberty in boys. Testosterone acts through androgen receptors in muscle, bone, skin and many other tissues. Part of it is aromatised into oestrogen, and part is converted by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a more potent androgen.
What Enantat 400 does
Testosterone is the yardstick for judging other anabolic steroids, and enanthate is one of its most widely used forms. Its main effects include:
- increased protein synthesis and nitrogen retention, supporting gains in muscle mass;
- greater strength and training capacity;
- faster recovery between training sessions;
- higher red blood cell production;
- support for libido, energy and general wellbeing in men with low testosterone.
Some water retention is common with testosterone; it adds size and fullness but can soften muscle definition. Because each millilitre carries 400 mg rather than the more usual 250 mg, a given amount of testosterone fits into a smaller injection volume.
Who should and should not use it
Enantat 400 is meant for adult men. Women, anyone under 18 and men with known or suspected prostate or breast cancer should not use it. Heart, liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure and sleep apnoea all call for extra caution and close medical supervision. Known interactions include blood thinners such as warfarin, insulin and other glucose-lowering medicines, and corticosteroids. How much is used and for how long has to be worked out individually with a qualified medical professional, ideally backed by blood tests before starting and at intervals during use. Every injection needs sterile technique and a fresh needle.
Side effects of testosterone enanthate
How strongly these appear depends on the amount used, the length of use and individual sensitivity. Possible effects include:
- oestrogen-related effects such as water retention and gynaecomastia, because testosterone aromatises;
- androgenic effects: oily skin, acne and faster hair loss in men with a genetic tendency to male-pattern baldness;
- a rise in haematocrit and blood pressure, and unfavourable changes in cholesterol;
- suppression of natural testosterone production, with reduced fertility and testicular shrinkage;
- pain, redness or swelling at the injection site.
Blood work picks up these changes early. Once use stops, the testes need time to resume normal output, so post-cycle support is worth arranging with a doctor beforehand.
