How Tamoxifen Works

Side Effects of Tamoxifen

Many people tolerate tamoxifen well, but side effects can include hot flushes, nausea, tiredness, headaches and mood changes. More serious risks include blood clots and, with long-term use, changes in vision such as cataracts. In women it can affect the lining of the uterus. In men it may temporarily lower IGF-1 and can occasionally reduce libido. Any sudden leg pain or swelling, chest pain, shortness of breath or vision problems need urgent medical attention.
